Easy Pizza Sauce with Hook's Fresh Catch

Easy Pizza Sauce with Hook's Fresh Catch

INTERACTIVE: Every Friday night in the Hook's household is "Pizza Picnic Fridays." We started the tradition when our kids were toddlers where we would roll out a blanket, make or order pizza and watch a movie as a family. Now that our kids are pre-teen/early teens, we still do it every Friday unless we are out of town and sometimes we evan do it them too! One of the more rewarding feats in cooking is making your own pizza dough and sauce then topping it, baking and then enjoying the fruit of your labor. The fun in it is when the kids and other family members get their hands dirty forming the dough and topping their pie. Our kids have loved creating their own versions of pizza. I am sure you and your family and friends will too!

We made this SUPER easy-peasy pizza sauce recipe seasoned with our Fresh Catch which can be used immediately, then stored in the fridge in a jar or plastic container for up to 3 weeks! You can also, properly "can" it and save it for much longer or make it today to use tomorrow.

This recipe makes 4 cups of sauce.

Ingredients:

Recipe (variation below):

  1. Wash tomatoes under cool water.
  2. Slice tomatoes in half.
  3. Put all tomatoes in a blender or food processor.
  4. Add in 2-3 Tbs of Hook’s Fresh Catch Rub.
  5. Pour 2 Tbs olive oil into the blender or processor.
  6.  Blend for 5-30 seconds to desired consistency.
PRO TIP: Less blend time = chunckier sauce. More blend time equals runnier sauce.
  7. Store in glass jars until ready to use on pizza, in pasta dishes, on meatball subs or any other recipie calling for marinara sauce.

VARIATION: Grill the tomatoes over a flame of on a smoker for 30 minutes or until you see char marks and follow the recipe above. You can also  add in bell peppers, garlic, onions, mushrooms, olives, cheeses and herbs.
